Taking Shape

The kitchen is taking shape.  We can see what it will become one day.  Not so far away.  We finished grout on Saturday, dove into cabinet making Sunday to allow the templater for the countertop to visit Monday.  Phew! Priorities for this week are plumbing to get the dishwasher going again, and figuring out how...

Latest Reno update…

For those of you who are coming to stay with us over Christmas, we may have some bad news…We will likely not have any countertops. The good news, mostly for us, is that Dan finished the tiles yesterday!  They look so great.  Better than great! Dan amazes me on a regular basis.  It seems there’s...

And more of what we’ve been up to…

Days at Nana and Papoo’s are fun-filled and busy.  Today we spent the morning taking a beautiful walk through the woods behind the house in search of animals though Jaia was adamant that we not find any ‘tigers, wolves, bears or skunks’ because ‘they are scary’.  Thankfully the biggest that crossed our paths were a...

For Daddy…

We are in Virginia.  Well, Jaia and I are, while Dan stays home and rips our kitchen apart.  As you can see from the previous posts, he is doing one hell of a good job.  I’m starting to get so excited to see how it is coming together (in person). What we’ve been up to...

Today’s helpers include Gary.  He arrived in time to help with some plumbing and sealing sub-floor joints. Tiles begin tomorrow! PS – yes, Humph tracked mortar all...

Kitchen Reno #2 – Helpers

Can’t talk long, sick.   New sub-floor not possible.  Must source goo to smooth out existing sub-floor.  Home Depot Man will know the answer.  Tomorrow. So tired.  So much chiseling.  Sleep.  Sleep.  Sleeeeeeeeep.

Kitchen Reno #1

Once you break that first tile, you can’t go back! We have a long list of changes we’d like to make to our house, and have decided the kitchen is at the top of the list, over bathrooms or backyard.  We were deciding between refinishing existing cabinets or buying new, and decided that changing the...

Spooktacular

This was Jaia’s third Halloween, but the first that she *really* got it it.  Her costume this time around?  A giraffe.  Warm, fuzzy and with a huge, hilarious, padded bum.  Perfect for doing the Wiggle Bum dance with. Before we headed out trick or treating, we went to our friend Sarah and Barry’s house so...
